About PJ

pj 10-29-2009Hi there.  I’m PJ, and this is my blog.

I am a Sagittarius, which means I’m always searching for truth, higher knowledge, and adventure.  You’ll find that my blogs will reflect a lot of Monkey Mind chatter as well.  Sometimes you just have to ramble to find what you’re really trying to discover about Where You Are.

I am nearly 42, which may or may not mean a single damned thing, but at the moment, I’m fixated on it.  It’s a turning point, nevertheless.

I will be celebrating shortly my third year of marital bliss to husband #3, and am finally happy… albeit exhausted.  I inherited a fabulous teenaged stepdaughter that night, and I love being her other mom.  Our little family has its challenges, but mostly we’re on the road to completion.

I work in the operating room of a small surgery center in the midwest.  I enjoy my work in head/neck and ophthalmology surgery, and really really hate ortho, spine, and general.  I see some really cool stuff.  You might hear about it sometimes. Don’t be skeered.

My husband and I are karaoke fools.  We don’t go out and sing as much as we used to, but we go as much as we can.  I am a sucker for love songs and power ballads, whereas my husband loves the country stuff… oh, and Metallica or KISS.  Random, I know.  That’s us.

I like to bellydance when I get the inspiration.  In fact, I like to dance to just about anything at any given time.   And yes, sometimes I dance in the OR.  I’m crazy like that.  I also like to draw with my pastels, although I haven’t done that in a long while.

We have three critters, cats named Handsome Boy, Odd Thomas, and Zoom.  They are funny as hell, and I love to give them catnip and watch them tear around the house like monkeys on crack.

In addition to this little family of mine, I have three big sisters who are all significantly older than me and who live mostly out of state.  My folks are still alive and kicking, in their mid 70s,  and live not far from us.  My inlaws are about the same age and live around the corner.  Not inconvenient, and mostly helpful.  I’m close with my sisters and my folks, and I really love my inlaws… although we have very different ideas about religion/spirituality.

I was raised Lutheran, quit going to that church after confirmation, and discovered Wicca when I was 17.  I loved it so much I practiced it for 11 or 12 years, wrote my own ceremonies and everything.  Somewhere along the line, Wicca stopped serving who I was becoming, so I stopped practicing.  Went to Unity Church for a while, sang in choir… but again, it quit serving who I was becoming.  Now I just read voraciously, consider the Possibilities, and question everything.  My sisters and parents are now mostly the same way.  My husband… I haven’t figured out yet.

My husband was raised Baptist, and his folks still go to that church.  My stepdaughter used to go with them, and had issues with it, so she doesn’t go anymore.  I’m glad she’s a Sagittarius, too… she questions everything, something I think is really really healthy.  Especially for a 14 year old girl.

This blog is about my life.  I curse a lot, whine a lot, and ramble a lot.  I won’t use the real names of my friends, family, or work place– just nicknames.  You’ll figure it out.  You’re smart like that, I’m sure.

Please feel free to email me or comment about my blogs.  If you think of something I might be interested in exploring or reading about, lemme know.

My only request of you is to please not send me emails concerning the salvation of my eternal soul.  I promise to not tell you how to lead your spiritual life, so please don’t tell me how to lead mine. My relationship with God is between me and God– what you read here is simply my experience of it.  Your comments are welcome, but please don’t preach to me.

Thanks for reading.
